Professor PHILIP PIENKOS from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory visited SCET

From January 6th to 13th, 2018, Prof. Philip Pienkos of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory visited our school, and gave lectures to the postgraduates. The title of the lecture is "Selected Topics in Biochemical Engineering".

Prof. Philip Pienkos introduced the key research projects led and participated by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in the United States. He told students that the cellulosic biomass is one of the most promising biofuels. He also explained the algae biomass utilization process and its difference from cellulosic biomass.

In the context of global warming and energy crisis, energy has become an important bottleneck restricting the development of countries around the world. Seeking clean, safe and sustainable energy has become a top priority. This is of far-reaching significance in reducing dependence on oil, reducing environmental pollution, and ensuring national energy security. Prof. Philip Pienkos’ course has important guiding significance to our school in the development of energy research and the construction of first-class disciplines.
